Splish, Splash, Shine! Getting the Pool Ready for You
Pool fill testing has officially begun at the new YMCA in Barrie and it seems ‘Kempenfelt Kelly’ came out of hiding to give it a splash test!
Nearly 200 years after that first 1823 sighting in Lake Simcoe, our favourite local legend has resurfaced… this time as a very official quality inspector with Ball Construction.
While our pool floatie has brought plenty of smiles on-site, what’s even more exciting is the significant progress made in the aquatic centre and change room areas. Initial pool waterproofing and testing have begun, fireproofing work is underway, and additional slab pours are taking place throughout the facility. We are so excited to see everything coming together.

Inclusive Child Minding Will Build Health for the Whole Family
The new YMCA in Barrie will be a place filled with families. Our inclusive all-in-one destination will offer swimming lessons, children’s programming, and child minding for children 3 and under, so parents can keep fit and get connected too, knowing their children are nearby and well cared for. Child minding removes barriers to participation for families who might otherwise be unable to attend programs or take time for themselves.
This critical service is coming to life thanks to generous donors like Peggy Hill, CEO & Broker of Peggy Hill Team Real Estate Brokerage Inc.
She’s inspired to help ensure the new Y is a place where every child can grow, learn, and play in an environment that honours their unique needs and strengths. That includes support for a ‘Sensory Support Zone’, equipped with specialized items such as sensory bins, sand tables, adjustable lighting, noise-cancelling headphones, and calming tactile surfaces.
