Ball Construction to Lead New Barrie YMCA Project

Ball Construction is proud to be named Construction Manager for the new YMCA facility coming to Barrie, Ontario. Located at 535 Bayview Drive, this transformative community project will bring together recreation, transitional housing, and childcare services in one inclusive and purpose-built facility.

The new YMCA will be a three-storey, multi-use building featuring a gymnasium, aquatic centre, fitness studios, childcare spaces, office and administration areas, and 12 residential suites for transitional housing. With a total gross floor area of approximately 7,030 square metres, this project represents a significant investment in community health and support.

The site—currently part of an existing parking lot—spans roughly 34,181 square metres. Construction is expected to begin in late spring or early summer of 2025, with the project slated for completion in 2027. The total construction budget is estimated at $60 million. A major milestone for the project took place on March 21, 2025, when the City of Barrie hosted an official Ground Breaking Ceremony. The event marked the beginning of a new chapter for the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka and the broader Barrie community, as Ball Construction prepares to mobilize on site.

Once completed, the facility will serve as a vital hub for wellness, education, and support—providing essential programs for individuals and families across the region.
