Saugeen Shores Aquatic & Wellness Centre Moves Into Major Build Phase

Construction is progressing rapidly on the Town of Saugeen Shores’ highly anticipated Aquatic & Wellness Centre, with the project now advancing well into the finishes stage. Located at 600 Tomlinson Drive in Port Elgin—just east of the current municipal hall and Plex Arena—this facility is set to open in 2025, providing a central hub for recreation, wellness, and community connection.
Ball Construction, acting as Construction Manager, has joined forces with Salter Pilon Architecture and Lett Architects, Inc., to deliver this important community project. Following extensive stakeholder and public engagement, Saugeen Shores Council formally approved the initiative in December 2022.

A Community Space Designed for Everyone

Once complete, the Centre will feature an eight-lane, 25-metre lap pool with spectator viewing, a leisure/therapeutic pool, a walking track, and a full wellness centre complete with gymnasium, fitness studios, and multi-purpose rooms. Supporting spaces such as change rooms, offices, and customer service areas will ensure a comfortable and accessible experience for users.

From Planning to Finishes

Early in the design process, the project team worked together to streamline the plans and reduce costs without compromising the vision for the Centre. Today, construction is well into the interior finishes phase, with crews working on mechanical and electrical systems, wall finishes, and other details that bring the facility to life.

Looking Ahead

With completion targeted for late 2025, the Aquatic & Wellness Centre is on track to become a landmark facility for the Saugeen Shores community. By combining recreation, fitness, and wellness programming under one roof, the new Centre will serve residents of all ages for decades to come.
