The Challenge

One challenge Ball Construction faced was the very poor soil condition of the site.

The Solution

Our Project Manager proposed using an unconventional foundation system – a floating slab called Legalett GEO-slab.    The Legalett GEO-slab insulated slab-on-grade floor slab and foundation forming system is ideal for frost protected shallow foundations.  The Legalett radiant heat system circulates warm air through a network of air piping cast into the insulated monolithic concrete slab foundation which is custom engineered to the building specifications.  This system provides for a faster and more efficient site preparation due to the use of a flat gravel bed.  The simple installation of the Legalett GEO-Slab components in the slab also increases installation efficiency.  This successful solution proved to save Extendicare time and money.
