Project Details

This 108,487 square foot complex is a multi-purpose, environmentally-friendly athletic facility. It contains two NHL-sized rinks with spectator seating for 600, a running/walking track, a gymnasium, a boxing centre and many meeting rooms.

The Challenge

The work had to take place within a very tight locality due to a large high school next door, as a well as a forest that needed to be preserved. We were therefore limited on the site as far as usable space.

The Ball Solution

We ensured that safety was paramount for the 3,500 high school students in the adjacent property by keeping them away from the site.

The facility was one of the first in Canada to be LEED Gold, the first arena to receive LEED certification and the highest rated LEED achieving recreational facility in the country at the time (47 points).

This highly functional and beautiful building also received the highest CaGBC rating of any sports facility in Canada.
